SIMI AJAYI

Multi-award winning copywriter

About

Somehow, I found a way to express my love for culture, short stories, music and tech by becoming a copywriter with the ability to implement Salesforce technology.

I sharpened my pen on the streets of Lagos.

Work

Worker's Day - Social Media Campaign

On Workers' Day (May Day), we launched this mini-campaign as a distress call to the government about the plight of the average Nigerian worker who can barely meet basic needs.

The ads were sent via email to as many government officials as we could reach. It was also featured on social media.

BBDO Westeros- in-house campaign

It was the season finale and everyone was at risk of catching the GOT fever.  So, we figured the best way to protect ourselves from "spoiler alerts" was for us to binge-watch the final episodes together as a team.

Someone had the bright idea of renaming BBDO West Africa, BBDO Westeros which meant we couldn't resist running this series as an in-house campaign. It featured on internal platforms as well as on the company's official IG page.

Hardvertising with Izzy- Social Media

Izzy is a young copywriter who exposes the less glamorous side of copywriting with his dry humor.  Some of the stories he tells are true and some of the characters in his stories are based on real people.

TV

This is a collection of some of my favorite work as a copywriter. Each one has its unique story.

The FCMB Copa Lagos beach soccer commercial was written when I was a young copywriter. I almost fainted with joy when it was approved and produced.

The Morning Fresh commercial was produced right in the middle of the COVID lockdown in Lagos. The Director joined us on set via Zoom.

The Good Life campaign for Stanbic IBTC Insurance was produced a few weeks ago and hasn't been launched yet.

"Insurance cover me/you" is  Lagos street slang which roughly translates to "I am safe/You are safe". Research showed that the young working class in Nigeria considered Life Insurance a taboo subject fit only for an older audience.

We wanted to change that and kickstart the conversation on social media with younger people.
